Researching Places to Live Outside the US

Hi Everyone! My husband and I are looking to move out of the US to a more affordable, safe country. We're looking at this as an adventure in our senior years. Right now, we are focusing on Spain and Portugal as we're not fans of high humidity. I'd love to hear from expats in either of these two countries.
