I’m not trying to make this political but I’m concerned to the point of putting my dream of living in France to the back burner.

Strongly attracted to both Portugal and Italy. From a tax perspective which is better? I'm an artist that makes a minor amount of money from selling my art. I plan to do so in the place I finally retire to. I also will make money renting my properties in Charleston SC. Will the money I make be taxed in Portugal or Italy if I take residence there?
