Spain resident needs US mobile # for two-factor authentication
-
We relocated to Spain 3 years ago. We purchased our iphones before leaving the US so they were unlocked and we could get Spain SIMs. We gave up our US mobile numbers. Those numbers are still on some of our bank and other financial accounts as the only mode of two factor authentication. It's an inconvenience that I want to fix. I'm looking for advice on a provider from whom I could get a US number, likely via eSIM, with which I would update my financial accounts, and be able to receive any necessary authentications in Spain by switching the eSIM on as needed. I've looked as US Mobile which seems viable. Any expert advice out there on which mobile company has a plan that will be able to send texts to a US number on an international network? I'm in Spain and do not currently have a US number (ie can't port to Google.)

I use Redpocket.com. I ported my US number to them from Verizon. They have a plan you can buy on Ebay for $60 annually and a slightly more expensive plan on their own site, redpocket.com. My US phone number is a "normal" number; i.e., it can receive SMS for authentication. It works perfectly with WiFi calling when i have WiFi coverage at my home abroad -- or in a cafe abroad--and randomly works when i have cell service (though they don't provide support for cell problems when when roaming.) That way i have a US number i can keep permanently for a cheap price. I have used it in several EU countries and in LatAm, and it works.
