Bonjour! I will be spending 1 month in Pau this spring, taking a French language course at the local university. While I'm there, I would love to try to connect with any Americans living in or near Pau or Oloron-Saint-Marie, as I'm using this trip to evaluate the area as a possible retirement destination. I know you have covered these towns in the magazine and have interviewed American expats living there. Is there any way I could get in touch with these people before my trip? Unfortunately I am not on Facebook and prefer not to join it. Merci beaucoup!

Bonjour! Have a look at the AngloInfo France website and type in Pau in the search box. I haven’t heard, per se, of an expat specific groups in Pau, but this website covers all of France so probably your best bet to connect with other expats not via Facebook. You can also see if there's a MeetUp group in the area. Best of luck!
