Hello. I am a US Citizen and an Irish Citizen via Foreign Births Registry. I also recently obtained an EU Passport. My husband is a US Citizen. We have just started to entertain the idea that we may want to move abroad in a year or two when he retires. We are financially secure and would qualify for what I understand is a monthly income range: €3000 to €3500. Orginally we were thinking Ireland due to my citizenship, but we understand that housing a problem there. Since we both only speak English we are evaluating where else we might go. France, Italy, Portugal, Spain are all on the table. Not sure if it is an issue that my husband does not have a passport. Any ideas on where we should start would be welcome.

Also I wanted to add that we have a dog that will come with us, and I just read the article in the April IL issue. Thank you!

Hi Sorry for the delay. I stopped checking here when I did not get a reply to my question. You need quite a bit of documentation including your grandparents birth and marriage certificates. See here. https://www.ireland.ie/en/dfa/citizenship/born-abroad/registering-a-foreign-birth/
