Just read Barton's excellent "Comparing Apples to Mangoes: The Real Cost of Living in Thailand", and was looking for a way to contact him. He mentions two of the countries I plan to visit within the next few months (Thailand - I've been there, but very different circumstances from what he describes - and Vietnam, which I've never visited, and was lucky to have missed by months being shipped to by Uncle a few decades back). I'd like to get some more pointers on places to visit and to stay on an extreme budget.

@JIM.MARSEEM I have only been in the Jomtien Beach area of Pattaya, Thailand since July.
But during that time, I've gotten a condo, a bank account, and a Type-O Non-Immigrant Visa.
I am operating on a bare-bones budget, so I've had to get creative with some of my solutions.
Having also missed getting an all-expense paid trip to Vietnam, I can't help you with that, but DaNang and HCM City are on my radar. Please share anything you learn.
That said, if there are any questions about Thailand you have, I'll do my best to answer them.

@JIM-MARSEE Hi Jim, if you're still interested in contacting Bart, you should join us for our community workshop on Thursday, November 21 at 10:00am Eastern time. Bart will mostly be discussing the article that he wrote for IL's November issue, but there will be a Q&A at the end where you'd be able to ask questions directly.
