I lived very happily for several years in Malaysia as a single American woman. Always felt safe, cared about, welcomed, and energized. I found friends--good friends--and lots of activities to do. Travel to other parts of Asia was very easy. Healthcare was excellent and lots of English spoken there.

There are plenty of way to rent in Mazatlan. A quick Google search will give you a list of real estates to contact, or you can look on VRBO, AirBnb, or something similar. Another great option is to join the expat Facebook group for Mazatlan and there are plenty of people who live there that can answer your questions and share good real estate agents.

One of the best things for me about moving to France, Portugal, Spain or Montenegro is going car free. I have previously lived in the UK, Europe, Latin American and Asia and never owned a car in those years. So I don't want a place where I need a car, but I don't want a huge city with the expense, noise, etc. So what are the best car free places in those areas?
