    Hello People,
Portugal keeps coming up as a desirable location to move to.
I would like go there on a “scouting” tour to get an idea of what living
    There might look like.
Has anyone prepared such an itinerary? If it exists, I would love to see
    1, 2 and 3 week itineraries.
    Many many thanks, Kathleen

Hi Kathleen. IL actually has created itineraries for exactly this purpose! There are options for 1, 2, 3, or 4 week trips all planned out. You can find them here: https://www.ilbookstore.com/portugal-itinerary

I am interested in being included in this conversation also with any answers that get forwarded. My husband and I are retired with savings, not drawing SS yet, and looking to live somewhere in Europe to establish a base from which to do extended travel. Portugal is on our list! Thank you.

My husband and I are planning the move in January. We started by flying into Lisbon, and then driving to Travia (about 3 hours). We then meandered along the coast back through Lisbon and on to Porto. It took about a week. We were intentionally looking for something along the coast, and that kind of open-ended trip helped us identify characteristics of what we did or did not want. To narrow things down, we will work with a local guide in the region where we want to live.

My husband and I are planning a trip at the end of May, early June. We are most interested in the Northern region. We're exploring Coimbra, Bragas, and Viesu.

I began in Lisbon then caught the train to Porto. I then used the train to return to Nazare. I then caught the train back to Sintra. From Sintra I caught the train back to Lisbon then Cascais. I trained back into Lisbon where I caught the Bus from Sete Rios to Portimao. From there I caught the bus to Lagos. From Lagos I caught the train to Tavira. Next trip I want to visit central Portugal

Thanks for sharing your itinerary:) I suppose if I use your routes, I could judge for myself, but do you have brief observations you'd like to share - for example, are there some places that stood out as execptionally nice or any places you'd highly recommend I avoid? Thank you, Heidi
